Obsession Review

Posted on October 20, 2026October 21, 2026 by Sarah Khan

No No No… NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!

Don’t skip this movie. I think you’ll have a good time.

Obsession has people, well…obsessed.

If you haven’t seen the movie, you’ve heard it on your For You page or had someone recommend it to you. The movie checks every box for someone who likes something a little creepy and disturbing. It’s not horror, but that doesn’t mean you won’t check under your bed after watching.

When I rave about a movie, I make the common mistake of getting too excited and spoiling it all, and so in my attempt to show y’all why to watch it without ruining it, imagine this:

You’ve never loved a girl more. You’ve spent years pining away, hoping she might like you back and believing you have all the time you will ever need to gain the courage to ask her out. But then that time slips away, and that girl is leaving you forever as she moves on to pursue her dreams.

You decide it’s your only chance…

Only to get friend-zoned.

Getting rejected can lead you to do a lot of crazy things; it’s embarrassing. Maybe you want to slash their tires and egg their house… or maybe you make a wish. A wish that the girl loved you back.

But we all know wishes aren’t that simple.

They are perfect to a fault, never missing their mark, and they’ll make you think the nightmare you brought upon yourself is everything you’ve dreamed of. It’s a spiraling nightmare and a toxic love story: one second you love them together; the next you’re screaming at the screen as you hide behind your blanket.

The girl you once loved is now the one person you can’t wait to get away from, and it’s your fault.

Now, the actors.

I interviewed a group of people who watched Obsession. Some adored it, and others found it a little too creepy, but the MAJOR consensus was that people were mind-blown by Inde Navarrete, the talented actress who played Nikki.

When asked who her favorite character was, junior Viv Shue immediately raved about Nikki’s portrayal by Inde. She highlighted her ability to portray such a morally gray character that makes the audience unsure whether or not to hate her, pity her, or adore her. And honestly, I couldn’t agree more.

As I watched the movie myself, I was intrigued by the small hidden details and seemingly insignificant actions that made it necessary to rewatch the film. Things that felt random at first slowly revealed psychological reasons that didn’t make sense until the movie was over. My second watch made the movie so much darker and more unsettling.

The moment the credits rolled, I had to sit and ruminate.

As I talked to some fellow Obsession watchers about how they felt after the movie, many said it was an absolute rollercoaster with a horrific but oddly abrupt ending. Personally, I was mad. I had the urge to know more, and I wasn’t satisfied with being left in the dark.

“Damn, that’s a crazy movie,” said Sophomore Brayden Teisch.

Obsession is perfect for the spooky season, and if it’s been on your watch list for a while, I’d recommend watching it in October with cinnamon rolls and a blanket to hide under.
