CHS Chronicle Presents NEW Writing Workshops

Posted on May 1, 2026May 4, 2026 by Teesta Bhola-Shah

Staring at a blank Google Doc, having ideas but not knowing where to start, and struggling to put them into words is something we’ve all experienced. Writing is one of those skills that everyone uses on a daily basis, but perfecting your craft can be tricky. That’s why the CHS Chronicle is starting something new: writing workshops!

On Friday, May 15th, the Chronicle team will be hosting a writing workshop designed to help students build stronger writing skills. The focus of our first workshop will be news writing—breaking down what actually goes into a well-written article. What makes a strong lead? How do you structure your paragraphs so they flow? How do you make something informative without it sounding boring? What kind of information should you include in a news article? These are the kind of questions we will be answering, and we’ll practice how to do it too.

And even if you’re not planning to join the newspaper, the skills you’ll learn still apply. Being able to write clearly and effectively is useful in pretty much every class, especially when it comes to essays and long-form assignments.

So if you’ve ever wanted to know what actually goes into a news article—or just want to become a more confident writer—stop by the CHS Chronicle meeting in Room L14 this Friday. (Snacks will be provided)! It’s a chance to learn something new, get better at writing, and maybe even surprise yourself with what you can do!
