CHS Orchestra Performs at Montclair State University

Posted on December 22, 2025December 23, 2025 by Joana Jayanth

It seems, this season, our school has seen a great deal of exciting things: sports victories, PTO-sponsored cookies and hot chocolate (remember, offer your thanks!), the results of the Poetry Competition coming out, and, of course, the approaching winter break.

However, in this article, I would like to highlight a lesser-known event that occured within our school— the Chamber Orchestra’s Montclair Concert.

On December 12th, a Friday evening, our Chamber Orchestra students gathered up their string instruments and performed Aaron Coplan’s Appalachian Spring Suite at Montclair State University, in Montclair, New Jersey, accompanied by three Montclair students playing the brass.

Composed originally for a ballet, this lively and varied piece, chronicling the wedding day of a young American couple, was the perfect choice to bring some non-seasonal warmth to this winter season. I highly recommend you take a listen— or, better yet, stop by and watch the performance at the orchestra’s winter concert in January!

The performance was well-received by the audience, according to certain sources, and this was due in no small part to all the dedicated musicians, and, of course, the ever hard-working and talented Mr. Keller, music teacher and conductor who secured the opportunity in the first place.

Remember, if you see any of them around, remember to congratulate them! They worked hard for a chance to represent our school on such a scale, and I’d say they did a great job.
