Winter is rapidly approaching, and with it comes CHS concert season! Every winter and spring, the CHS Music Department offers choir, band, and orchestra concerts in which the music classes showcase their hard work. Every student is hard at work, practicing and perfecting their pieces.
Chatham choir, directed by Mr. Bryson, consists of three classes: Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Voices. Additionally, the concert will feature the talents of our three student-lead a capella groups, Nothing But Treble, Chacafellas, and Vocal Fusion. When asked to comment, Mr. Bryson said, “I’m so excited for everyone to come experience our choir concert! All three high school choirs and our a cappella groups have been working incredibly hard, and it promises to be an amazing night of music.” They will be singing selections ranging from “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” “Fum Fum Fantasia,” “Where are you, Christmas?,”and many more. The concert will take place on December 11th at 7:30 PM, and entry is free.
The CHS Choir Council will also be collecting non-perishable food items at the door for the Chatham United Methodist Church Food Pantry. They invite everyone to bring as little or as much as they can to help support this worthy cause, especially during the holiday season.
The band consists of two classes, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, and both are directed by Mx. Lemley. Sophomore Kate Schell from Wind Ensemble commented, “I’m super excited to perform all the songs we’ve been working on all year. It’s been a challenge but everything is coming together, and I can’t wait to play our combined piece with the Explorations in Music class and the Symphonic Band.” Their concert will take place on December 17th, and entry is free.
The orchestra concert will take place on December 16th with free entry, and it will feature the talents of the Concert Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra classes, directed by Mr. Keller. When asked to comment, Mr. Keller said, “Every year I am blown away by the dedication and talent of our orchestra students. They have worked nonstop to make sure they put out their highest quality product and I could not be more proud of them. I can’t wait for the community to see the product of their efforts!”
Come to the CHS auditorium on December 11th, 16th, and 17th for multiple guaranteed splendid nights of music. Cheer on and support your fellow classmates while they present their work and dedication to the community!
