Spooky Photos Contest Winners

Posted on December 8, 2020December 10, 2020 by Photography Club

These photos are from the Spooky Photos Contest held by the Photography Club. If you want to be a part of the next one, reach out to either Emma Haberman (emmahaberman@chatham-nj.org) or Naomi Boyd (naomiboyd@chatham-nj.org)

Winner: Victoria Tesoro

When I was taking this photo, I was going on a walk with my sister, Adriana, at a cemetery! We decided to have a little photo shoot, and I was trying to go for Halloween/spooky vibes. Right before we left, my sister motioned me to come over and take pictures of her by this big grave by the entrance. She started doing some poses, so I just took out my camera and lowered my brightness down. Afterward, Adriana helped me with some minor editing/special effects to spice it up. I loved how this picture turned out, and it was really cool to collaborate with my sister!

Honorable Mentions:

Vishan Vyas:

First off, I would like to thank everyone who voted for my photo. As this is my first year in the Photography Club, I wanted to showcase my skills through the first contest. The way I created this photo was I placed a flashlight underneath the witch to create an ominous, spooky look. Then I took the photo with a low light setting so the picture would look darker than it actually was. I enjoyed taking place in this month’s contest and I look forward to the next one.

Rachel Williams:

I took this photo in the downstairs bathroom of my house, with nothing but my phone camera and my hand, as well as the lighting from the kitchen, dining room and living room. The prompt for Photography Club was Spooky!, and I was determined to take a photo that was at least somewhat related to the prompt. I wasn’t finding much inspiration outside, so I decided to manufacture a photo in one of the most average spots in my house: the bathroom. Surprisingly, the different light sources and the partially closed bathroom door as well as the way I angled my camera resulted in a photo which I’m super proud of! My shadow-hand ended up looking like it was reaching for the towel, and my favorite interpretation of this photo is a ghost who died in the shower and really just wants to dry off, but the great part about this photo is that anyone can interpret anything about it!
