Spring Break, At Long Last

Posted on April 14, 2021April 15, 2021 by Elena Wang

After a long month devoid of any breaks or long weekends, Chatham students have finally reached their much-awaited spring break. The week leading up to it has been difficult for many students, as it seems that tests, quizzes, and projects in every subject tend to be packed into the two weeks preceding a break. In fact, the entire month of March is, as many students could attest, perhaps the worst of the entire school year. It drags on lethargically with no end in sight, causing students to fall into a miserable and monotonous routine as they struggle to find the motivation to pull through.

Slowly but surely, though, the last day of school before break arrives. Some families of students have made the controversial decision to travel despite the pandemic, with one hotspot being Florida. Others plan to play it safe and remain in the area. For students who are stuck at home with nothing to do, the Chronicle has compiled a checklist of replenishing activities to try out over the staycation.

  1. Clean and redecorate your room.
  2. Try out some new recipes.
  3. Reconnect with friends you haven’t seen in awhile.
  4. Get in some physical activity, even if just by taking a walk.
  5. Take a break from the screen and read a book.
  6. Listen to music without occupying yourself with other activities besides thinking.
  7. Take some photos in your home or in the vicinity.
  8. Fix your sleep schedule.
  9. Go online shopping.
  10. Explore your passions further or try out a new hobby.

Whether they are in town, out of state, or abroad, the next few days will certainly provide students with much-needed excitement or relaxation, or both, before the staggered full return starting April 19.
