This school year, many issues have arose concerning the parking and overall buildup of traffic in the high school parking lot. For years, the matter of how to dissipate traffic near the high school has been up for discussion, but this year in particular it has come to many people's attention that it is a necessity for this problem to be fixed. With the combination of one of the biggest senior classes to go through Chatham and the largest freshman class to ever enter the high school, the traffic buildup is at an all time high.

One of the greatest aspects of Chatham High School is its fantastic visual and performing arts programs. From freshmen year students have the ability to pursue their interests in these fields with access to top-notch equipment and under the direction of encouraging mentors.

Sean Mccarthy, a junior at CHS, has recently been selected to play bass trombone in three prestigious groups: The Region Symphonic band, the All State Wind Ensemble and Region Jazz Band. I got a chance to meet with Sean and ask him some questions about his musical history and his overall thoughts on being inducted into these three elite groups.

Starting on the week of February 8th, Chatham High School’s Chinese Club celebrated the 2016 Chinese New Year: The Year of the Monkey. The club members, all of the students in Chinese classes, and other students and staff were given the opportunity to participate in multiple cultural activities throughout the week to better inform them about the importance and overall significance of the Chinese New Year.

This past Thanksgiving, the seventh annual Chatham Turkey Trot 5K and Family Fun Run took place in the Highlands neighborhood of Chatham. At 8:00 am hundreds of families came out with holiday cheer, all dressed in their warmest running apparel ready to conquer the hills of the neighborhood.

This school year many CHS students have reached out to start their own clubs for activities that interest them and peers of all ages around the school. Any student can start a club, but it comes down to a few factors to get approved: What the club is and how it benefits students in the school, what the plan and overall goal is of the club and whether or not you have a faculty advisor of the club. Recently added to CHS’s long list of clubs is Guitar Club.

The technological advancements in Chatham High School from the 2014-2015 school year to the 2015-2016 school year have been tremendous. All information, updates, and assignments for students are accessible in just the click of a button. After speaking with a few students and teachers it seems to be very helpful for most to use but on the other hand a bit overwhelming for others to get use to.

The 2015 Chinese New Year was held on Thursday, February 19 this year. Uniquely, the CHS Chinese Club decided to not only to dedicate one day to be celebrating this holiday but a whole week!

Not only was this trip set up for a fun time, but it was also intended to inform the members of the actual legitimacy of the game. The Lily Yip center is only one of twenty-four table tennis center in the world. It is run by Lily Yip herself, a two time U.S. Olympic Member and now the U.S. Jr. Girls National coach and her husband Barry Dattel, a U.S. men's national champion and now the U.S. Jr. Boys National coach.
