On Sunday, June 9th, six Chatham High School young women officially received their Girl Scout Gold Award.  The Gold Award is the highest honor earned by a select group of Girl Scouts who have demonstrated superior leadership, organization and a higher commitment to community service.  Less than 6% of eligible Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts successfully earn the Gold Award.

Chatham High School AP Studio Art Students will be exhibiting their creations at the Rizzo Gallery located at 32 Watching Ave, Chatham NJ. The opening reception for the show is slated for Friday June 14th from 4 to 6 pm. The work  will be on display from Friday, June 14th to Monday, June 17th.

The Chatham High School art department once again drew praise for the student artwork shown at the Morris County Teen Arts Festival held at County College of Morris on May 14, 2013.  Twenty pieces of artwork were selected to represent CHS, ranging from painting and drawing to ceramics and sculpture.  The show included work from eighteen different schools, including stiff competition from Butler High School and Mount Olive High School.  Ten "Best in Show" Gold Awards were given in all, and Chatham was honored with two of these ten, but more impressively, one CHS senior was the recipient of b

Congratulations to Chatham High School Senior Natalie Smith on winning the Mary Gill Art Scholarship, presented to her at the reception on April 24th at the Morris Museum. Out of a large field of applicants throughout Morris County, Natalie's portfolio was selected as the first place winner. For her efforts and talent, she was awarded $1,000 by the Mary Gill Foundation.

Chatham High School AP Art students, Olivia Antao, Toni  Chan, Megan Gesell, and Nina Krill  (pictured from left to right), participated in the 2013 Rodney Frelinghuysen Congressional Art Show at the Morris Museum on April 8th, 2013. Artworks from several other schools within the Congressman's district were also included in the show. The exhibition was judged by a panel with second place honors going to Toni Chan's piece, The Companion.

Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation competition sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation. Its purpose is to encourage students to develop a love of poetry through hearing it spoken aloud. To effectively recite a poem, students must demonstrate a nuanced understanding the emotional journey the poem articulates, as well as the subtleties of tone throughout the poem. Of course, students must also memorize the poem and recite it before an audience, a challenging task that gives students a sense of accomplishment and pride.

Twenty-five students from Chatham High School’s Model Congress Club attended the Princeton Model Congress Conference from November 15-18, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, along with approximately 850 students from across the country.

Right before Sandy struck, on Saturday, October 27th from 7:00-11:00 PM, CHS celebrated its annual Homecoming Dance where our homecoming queen and homecoming king were chosen from our 2012 Homecoming Court.  Due to Sandy, our pictures took extra time to collect, so in the meantime, we also collected some stories from our homecoming court about how they experienced the hurricane.
