People say “April showers bring May flowers,” but certain students associate the month of May with something else - AP Crunch time. According to College Board, “AP Exams are rigorous, multiple-component tests that are administered at high schools each May.” In other words, an AP Test is a cumulative assessment of the material students learn in an “Advanced Placement” Course.

As pumped fans, a fierce rivalry, and excitement filled the Prudential Center on March 9th, the Public B Championship between Chatham and Morristown was about to begin. USA cladding Cougars fans filled the student sections in flags, patriotic décor, and meme suits. The high-energy fans set the stage for a thrilling game.

Growing up in such an accepting and encouraging community, the most recent actions of the Taliban are horrifying. Malala Yousufazi is a teenage Pakistani Taliban activist. This fourteen-year-old girl promotes girls’ education and criticizes the militant group’s behavior when they took over the region where she lives. When she was returning home from school in Pakistan’s northwest, the Taliban stopped her car and shot her in the head.

The results of these attacks still reverberate through the nation; however, the growth of the World Trade Center complex will help citizens memorialize and recover from the devastation of this tragedy.

Dr. Michael LaSusa has proved that through determination and passion, one can achieve his or her goals. Many Chatham parents and students know Dr. LaSusa as a friendly, kind figure who has been part of the Chatham school district for the past eleven years. He is an integral member of the community as a teacher, supervisor, principle, assistant superintendent, and now superintendent of the Chatham school district.

Last Friday’s pep rally was an event that our school should not be proud of. Both students and adults alike experienced frustrations that could have and should have been avoided. A pep rally is a gathering of students, designed to celebrate athletics, encourage school spirit, and support members of their school’s teams. However, the unruly behavior displayed by students last Friday night did not accomplish those goals.
